Introduction
Po Leung Kuk Lau Chan Siu Po Elderly Centre is to assist the elders to enjoy later life by living at the community, live a life full of health, respect and dignity, give play to their roles of active participation and prompt the public to establish friendly community together.
Furthermore, it provides a series of comprehensive service for elders together with service units of each social circle so as to meet needs of elders for medical treatment and health, social contact of physical and mental as well as personal care.
Contents
Outreach service of the community “Expand love of elders”
Look for “hidden and vulnerable elders” in need; recruit and train volunteers; provide servicesfor elders; establish elder supporting network.
Education and Development Services
Hold different kinds of activities regularly and provide latest information for them, such as health education, social and recreational activities and
programmes for which elder members are involved in planning and implementation, etc.
Volunteer Development
Encourage the elderly to participate in volunteer services, social services and promoting a sense of worthiness
Carer Support Services
Provide assistance and information for elder carers, such as borrowing rehabilitation supplies and holding activities of elder carering common information and relieving pressure, etc.
Counseling Services
Counseling services aim at assisting elders (aged 60 or above) to deal with difficulties upon the aspects of interpersonal relationship, emotional, economic, housing and other problems. Following services are carried out by professional social workers:
(1) Casework counseling;
(2) Social resources consultation;
(3) Referrals; and
(4) Therapeutic groups.
